Todd Ossenfort Appointed to Rapid City Regional Airport Board of Directors

Rapid City Mayor Sam Kooiker has recommended the appointment of Todd Ossenfort to the Rapid City Regional Airport Board of Directors for vote and confirmation by the Rapid City, City Council. During a regular session on April 15, 2013, the Council approved the Mayor's recommendation and confirmed Ossenfort's appointment.

Ossenfort's term began on May 1, 2013 and will expire on May 1, 2016. Ossenfort's appointment comes amidst a growing concern about the viability of the Regional Airport. According to an article published by the Rapid City Journal, The Black Hills Air Service Partnership, a committee of the Chamber of Commerce, convened a summit on Tuesday at the Rushmore Plaza Holiday Inn to address a continuing decline in air travel demand, which will ultimately determine whether Rapid City keeps it's airport, says Cameron Humphres.

"I'm optimistic that we can turn this around," says Ossenfort. "The Rapid City Regional community relies on air transportation. Through working with the community and other board members, I'm committed to discovering how we can increase demand and ridership and create sustainability. Together we can make this happen." adds Ossenfort.
